Actually there are additional assumptions that are commonly made in investigating various
hypotheses of evolution, namely that there is no direction of the processes at any time by
higher intelligence and that progress in biological complexity, (that is, the accumulation
of additional useful-information content of DNA) is, in fact, possible. Such assumptions
are axiomatic rather than scientific.
